"You Are Filled With An Inexpressible and Glorious Joy"

1 Peter 1:22

In Guelph Canadian Reformed church on sunday afternoon and the minister Rev. DeGelder (think that is how you spell his name!) preached on Luke 4:5-8; Jesus' second temptation. It was a beautiful sermon. The way it was delivered was so beautiful. This minister was incredible and very passionate! I am thankful that Benney-bear invited Ash and i to come to church and to his house and then to the Guelph Youth Group. Thanks for the invite Ben!
Some things that really stuck out in the sermon was when the minister said that Jesus remained humble the whole thime. Jesus came to the earth to be a king, and that sounds great! But that means that He would have to give up His heavenly Glory and come down to earth, the place of sin. That would mean giving up what we all long for, what we hope, pray, strive, work, etc for. He had it and He gave it up for our sake. The minister quoted Philippians 2:5-11. Such beautiful words are found here! So to continue on, Jesus came onto the earth to become a king, and Satan knowing this full well tempted Jesus. Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the earth and said, 'worship me and I will make you a king. You came to earth to be a king, so then here is your kingdom, just bow down to me and this is yours.' But we know that Jesus turned to Scriptures and recited Deuteronomy 6:13: "Fear the LORD your God, serve him only."

Jesus remained humbled.

Jesus was tempted greatly but remained humbled to fulfill His purpose.
"9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11.

This sermon really brought home a few good points. It really showed how great this temptation was and yet how much greater Jesus' humbleness was. In the same way we should work to humble ourselves in all things for God's Glory. It takes a lot of work no doubt, but "By prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:6-7.

I can't get enough of what it says in Phillippians 2, especially verses 1-11. This is something that is in my heart at the moment and i thought that i might share it.
Jesus humbled Himself, to the point of death.....for me!
Every knee should bow to Jesus: when i think of this i picture a knee bowing and underneath the knee is Satan and sin.
Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord: with a whole passionate heart our tongue will confess and will be used for it's proper intension.
To the Glory of God the Father: nothing says it better than 1 Peter 1:3-12.
Read all of 1 Peter 1.
Then remember this: James 1:22 "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord!
And He shall lift you up,
Higher and higher,
And He shall lift you up!
Our God is an awesome God He reigns
From Heaven on High
With Wisdom, strong power and love
Our God is an awesome God!

Here are some texts that I found on humbleness with the help of www.biblegateway.com!

James 4:10 "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."
1 Peter 5:6 "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time."

God is good, all the thime!!!

Future Glory

Today Dan VanSpronsen was  buried. He was an amazing guy and I am thankful to God for allowing me to know him and learn from him. Good-bye Dan, your memory lives on. Thank-you for being such a powerful witness.

Today was also an incredibly beautiful day and  I thank the Lord for that as well. Ashley and I took some pictures just before sunset. These two things brought Romans 8:18-21 to mind. This day really made this text hit home. Enjoy these pictures!

Romans 8:18-21

Future Glory

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God."

If God's Creation is this beautiful on this earth, how much more beautiful will it be when we are in heaven!

Psalm 119:174 : "I long for your salvation, O LORD,
and your law is my delight."

Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."

Quote of the Day

Heres an awesome quote from my devotional:

'Turn your worry thime into prayer thime.'

Psalm 121:8 'The LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.'
John 16:33 'I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.'
Psalm 119:32 'I run in the path of your commands,
for you have set my heart free.'
________________________________________________________________________________________________
This text is also warming my heart on this night:
Romans 13:8 'Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.'

This is all that is in my heart on this night and i just thought that i would share it with ya'll!!!
God is good, all the thime!!!
Psalm 73:1 'Surely God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart.'

My Car Rocks!

She was born/made in 1991, which makes her 16 years old! That's almost as old as me. I started driving her at the beginning of February last year. We've gone to many a place together. So many great memories have been made with this car. Most notably, driving with Nate to and back from Ottawa for the March For Life, driving to and back from D2 with Nate and Chris, and then driving to D3 with Joel and Garnet, and  then Nate on the way back, and driving back and forth from Orangeville with Ashely (and occasionally with Bonnie) about 10 times over the Christmas break, and finally when she pulled my dad's pickup-truck up the escarpment into our drive way when the truck broke down.

She has two names, 'The Little Engine That Could', and 'Turtle Top.' The first one came about when everyone doubted that she would make it to Ottawa for the March For Life. Not only did she make it but she made it with just over half a tank. The second name comes from Ashley and Bonnie when we were driving back to Hamilton. Bonnie noted that the ceiling-top in the car looked like a turtle's shell.

For those of you who know her personally i've got good news for you, for those who as of yet don't know her person i've got an inspiring message for you:

Yesterday she reached a new height, and made another milestone: yesterday we were driving and the kilometers reached 430,000! Yes that is correct, 430,000 kms! She's a beautiful little car. She doesn't have much power but she's got torque all right. I started driving the car with about 399,900 kms. That means i've put on just over 30,000 kms within a year. This all with the original engine (as to the best of my knowledge).

To my beloved Turtle Top: you have given me more kms than i could ever give back. You have also gotten me there for less and i can not express how much i appreciate it. Yes you do spew quite a bit of black smoke, but with the rebuilt injectors that we put in you, we've improved a lot. And yes we've gotten to Guelph church late almost every thime b\c of the big hills but i have no doubt that you have more life in your completely rustless body than anyother non-VW car. May we have many more safe and amazing thimes together!

This is her all muddy and beautiful.

This is a pic of her achievement. Not that she really had to work for it, she's just that good!

I LOVE YOU TURTLE TOP!!!!!!!!
